It's said that if you dream of shoes, that represents your position in life, and self-image. I do feel different when I get new shoes. I sometimes crave to feel like a respectable person, who's achieved a lot and wears nice shoes. Shoes will always get old and comfy, they will stop giving that sense of newness and respectability. The earth's dirt gets a hold of new shoes really fast, also at a symbolic level. Last years I've been wondering a lot about my sense of purpose. I very often miss the time, around my twenties, when I felt this strong sense of purpose. I was studying. When I feel good at doing something that is appreciated by others, I feel that I have a purpose. Perhaps purpose has always been for me this symbol status, which I feel at a subconscious level. At the conscious level I want to deny this need, because I think it's empty and shameful. Maybe the lack of the feeling of purpose is simply an emancipation; a sign that I actually started caring less about prefabricated structures of meaning. For example, the purpose I felt while I was studying bachelors, was construed by my university in order to keep their students in, plus the society that needs workers that spend money and produce. An established job could give me this sense aswell, if they manage things right. Maybe being authentic comes hand in hand with not having this concrete purpose, but really being in a state of negotiation with every day life. I cannot know for sure. Or maybe an authentic purpose would be a purpose that I figure out for myself, and only I understand. Alternatively, the natural/animal sense of purpose could be only to survive every day, and feel loved. I like cassettes. I used to have a personal stereo when I was a kid. It got stolen. I decided as an adult to get some cassettes and experiment a bit. I would go out and get random cassettes at second hand shops, for really cheap, and then be surprised at what I could find. I made a few musical experiments with them. Digital playback never reached the charm of watching the tape slowly move from one wheel to the next. Cassettes were the perfect gift for myself, because they are absurd but charming. Something that I would not be able to turn into something useful, but be limited to just enjoy. All the vinyl listening hipsters would get what I mean. I am a cassette hipster. This amazing album art was drawn casually by @zapatravra and I thought it was a trip on it's own, I wanted to create a web experience that would bring the focus to the individual elements (each represents a song).
